Accessing Real Estate for the Arts (AREA) -
Change the Way Empty Spaces Are Used in NYC.

chashama could not exist without the generosity, support and enthusiasm of New York City’s most forward-thinking landlords, developers and property owners.

chashama has transformed a range of empty spaces, from giant lofts to tiny storefronts. We infuse underutilized buildings with life by working to meet the unique attributes of the space, its availability, and its surrounding community, meeting the needs of both the landowner and the artists.

Since 1995, we have repurposed over 50 empty storefronts, office spaces and mixed use buildings. creating galleries, rehearsal rooms, artist studios and storefront window performance spaces. We have a successful 20-year track record working with some of the most influential real-estate leaders in the city.

Space transformation at 461 West 126th Street, which currently operates as a gallery and studio space
